Todays Meeting


Today I attended a focus groom to aid the Upper Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce in their strategic planning endeavors. I felt it was very productive and we got to make a cool advertisement for how we see the chamber in 2013!

Why we blog

Bux-Mont Awards has a blog for a number of reasons... like to educate our customers on the many solutions offered to your recognition needs. (as seen in the hopefully somewhat regular, hopefully soon to be renamed Stuff we do that you may not know about or SWDTYMNKA posts) We are taking ideas for a new name for that column.

Another reason we have this blog is to assist us in our mission of recognition. We are a recognition company whose goals aim to further the spread of quality recognition with their stakeholders. While this aim is why we offer a lot of engraved and digitally imprinted awards and trophies, we also realize that they aren't always the appropriate way to say "job well done." Sometimes all anyone is looking for is a pat on the back. Some times we aren't recognizing an achievement rather we are helping a company optimize their brand recognition through the use of promotional products or apparel.

Sometimes we are helping youth sports teams with their fundraising or helping young children gain positive well being from playing sports with participation awards, and other times we are making awards for big tournaments or events. Offering a variety of things with the aim of spreading recognition so that you benefit as much as possible from our hard work.

As an extension of our customers, we help them achieve their goals and believe that everyone can benefit from recognizing achievement and utilizing recognition products. The ones who get it and understand what recognition means to them also get how it impacts their bottom line, how it reduces turnover and builds self esteem.

New Website

A new iteration of the website is out and it's one you will be happy with. Mind you it's just a start, but soon we will be updating and upgrading to better serve you. What we had, we didn't like, it was inconsistent, didn't serve your purpose and was intolerable. So we changed it.

Stuff we do that you may not know about

Please know that we do engraving. We are more than just a trophy shop, though we are a provider of the highest quality recognition products known, we also engrave stuff. We engraved knives and flasks. We engrave wine and champagne glasses.

Summer is upon us

Let's not forget to get those kids to the pool! A great time is to be had by all when you visit your local pool, especially with these behemoths they are building these days. My local pool is a mini water park and is grandiose in design with even a lazy rizer and inner tubes!

Earth day is everyday

I was just reading an article in a trade publication that dealt with ways to green your firm. The number two thing that was focused on was how your products are packaged. We utilize recycled boxes to pack our trophies as well as reusing old newspapers to keep them stable.

This saves us quite a bit in costs, enabling us to keep our prices down at times when prices are rising!

This is just one way Bux-Mont Awards is helping to green the planet. We also sell green promotional products...

Employee Motivation- Cash or non cash incentives

Employee motivation is a major factor that plays a vital role in the success and downfall of any organization.

The key to employee motivation lies in appreciation, recognition, satisfaction, inspiration and compensation.

Building Satisfaction

There is an indisputable chain between satisfied, motivated employees, and satisfied customers. If you will focus on satisfaction of employees, it will motivate them and these motivated employees will satisfy your customers.

Through Recognition

Many people are hungry for genuine recognition than monetary benefit. Some people are motivated to grab an opportunity to get their name on the wall, receive a trophy, or get a certificate of appreciation by the company. It satisfies them with an "emotional recognition" for their deeds.

Look for plans and schemes to increase employee motivation by recognizing excellence in the workplace. Set some target. Distribute awards for attendance records, best achiever or best performer. It is not inexpensive, still extremely effective to motivate your employees.

Through Inspiration

Set a mission, i.e., know where you are leading. Be committed and passionate about your mission. If you don't get excited, how your employees could be! Explain the mission, its value and importance to the marketplace.

Ensure that every employee understand how they fit into the paradigm of fulfilling the organization's mission. Make the link between the mission and the individual values and set targets of your employees.

Genuine Appreciation

At times, managers inadvertently crush employee motivation by failing to appreciate the positive acts and achievements of their employees.

Senior Managers can improve employee motivation by rewarding employees with personal attention. This can be comprised of a hand-written letter, a pat on the back, or a quick comment in the meeting.

Showing specific appreciation is important. Individual and specific appreciation is more effective than a mass appreciation.

It makes the employer more sincere, and the employee realize their actions are truly being noticed.

Through Compensation

Monetary benefit motivates some employees. In fact, a big chunk of employees is motivated by money. It can come in the shape of raises, commissions, profit sharing, bonuses, incentives or any number of "extra perks" like, automobiles, vacations, or other tangible items purchased and given as rewards.

Reading the Employees' Different Motivation Factors

Not every employee is motivated by the same factor. Utilizing all five - satisfaction, recognition, inspiration, appreciation, and compensation guarantees that the organization's success along with the success of employees.
