While we have been forced to continue operations out of our Sellersville location due to a rent increase in Harleysville that has forced us to move, we are optimistic for this upcoming year.
We have set our goals and are looking for ways to meet our mission, help you meet your goals, teach more people what proper recongition means, and in turn make this world a little better place in 2009. We are hopeful that President Obama can reestablish our nations role in the world and do the things that need to be done to get our economy back up and running on the path toward positive growth again.
It is much business as usual here. We are trying to continue to help you meet your recognition needs. Because of the increased in the number of people using Bux-Mont Awards to recognize their businesses and organizations achievements, we have run into a space issue. The issue is that we have run out of it. We are effectively running at full capacity in our current product space. Now we know that these are good problems. However if we are going to continue to help an ever growing customer base meet their recognition needs, a change is going to be made.
This change is coming in a way that you may or may not notice. There is space in Sellersville currently being renovated for us to move our production facilities into. There is also going to be another showroom where we are going to be featuring our personalized gifts, engravables, and higher end corporate recognition and imprinted apparel. It's going to be like a Things Remembered, except more affordable, higher quality, better service and with more of a selection.
The best part of this is we are going to keep our trophy showroom where it is so that everyone used to going to 201 N Main St. for their trophy and awards needs are going to be able to continue to do so.
While we did not want to move out of our Harleysville store, an increase in production space would have proven to great a cost to undertake and continue operation of both stores in Sellersville and Harlyesville. We believe that this increase in production facilities will enable us to better help all of our customers, and better position us for future growth! Any questions or comments? Leave them in the comments below!

2009 and beyond, serving the people who support us
Bux-Mont Awards wouldn't be here with out you. You are the ones who know and understand the benefits of effective recognition. You are the major proponent of the values we espouse. The key component in these underlying conditions neccessary to enable us to do what we do. Without you we would be just another lost business not sure of its way. We need you. We are here for you.
To that end we regret to inform you of the recent need that arose to better enable us to serve you. Due to a rent increase of 30% at the beginning of the 2009 we have been forced to vacate our Harleysville store and continue operations out of our existing Sellersville store.
We are still selling awards, and in fact we are still selling trophies, plaques and all of our recognition products. The only difference is that there will be one less location to visit to see how many different ways we can meet your recognition needs.
Please keep in mind that Sellersville is very close to Harleysville and is a 15 minute drive from most of our customers. This does not mean that we are unable to meet your needs and in fact this is exactly the opposite. While we are unable to meet the increased cost of operating out of our Harleysville store, we expect to continue to serve our Harleysville customers with the same personal service we give all of our customers.
We will still sell the same trophies, awards and plaques. We will still have all the same corporate gifts and apparel. We will continue to offer all the same processes and continue to add product lines where we see fit to continue to best serve our customers.
While we are unable to afford the increase in rent cost, we are still going to be looking for another place to operate around the Harleysville, Skippack, or Upper Montgomery County area. We are going to continue to develop a website that meets the needs of our customers who can't visit our store, and we are going to continue to add products to our website to keep in line with the mission of our company.
We can't do this without you and we are very appreciative that you can help us help you. We have been here almost 20 years and hope to be here many more to come. With your help we will! Thank you.

Our Most Popular Medal:
Based on the stats over at our flickr account, Bux-Mont Awards most popular medal is our stained glass series Tennis Medal made by PDU. These tennis medals come in a gold silver or bronze finish and also include a neck ribbon. Being from Pennsylvania, I truly would not have thought a Tennis Medal would get as many views as it has, but over the course of it being posted the medal has gotten almost 1700 views. The next two most viewed were our metal cup trophy and the Cheerleading stained glass medal. They all have over 1400 views, which is impressive in and of itself.

Basketball Participation Awards
If you haven't yet, use these basketball bobbleheads to recognize your childrens achievements, and if you buy them from us and mention this blog, you can take an additional 10% off of your order to show you our appreciation for being a reader of our blog.
Important Recognition Fact of the day
"Companies that manage and recognize its people outperform
companies that don’t by 30 to 40% … A recent WorldatWork
study found that 85 percent to 95 percent of all incentive
programs reach or exceed their goals, and that the return on
investment (ROI) on non-sales employee programs (200 percent)
is actually greater than the ROI on sales incentives (134 percent)."

Why do I need a Recognition Program?
- Recognition greatly increases Self Esteem & Morale: All humans have basic needs... to feel needed, satisfied, and inspired.
- Recognition signifies someone notices and cares: Encouraging greater motivation and significantly improving individual performance.
- Recognition is critical in our worlds changing business climate and economic times; in the best of times, it retains employees; in the worst, it provides a powerful alternative to compensation.

It's Not too late for Employee of The Month Plaques
For those instituting an employee of the month program there are a couple things to keep in mind. They are as follows:
While we sell perpetual and individual plaques, we also provide our customers with advice on setting up their recognition programs. Because often times the perpetual plaque just isn't enough.
- Don't do the McDonalds polaroid on the wall thing, it does nothing for employee morale. Instead do something like this in a prominent location around your office. Setting up a nice employee of the month perpetual plaque can go great lengths towards effectively recognizing their achievements and improving staff morale.
- Proper Planning prevents poor outcomes. Make sure the place you recognize your employees achievements is properly chosen.
- Publicize the event to those who can benefit from it. Make sure that all the employees know what caused the award recipient to receive this award and what is expected of everyone in order to strive to achieve.
- Make this award tough to get, measurable, and worth the outcome.

Youth Intramural Basketball Participation Trophy
With these "figure on a base" participation trophies you get the most bang for your buck. These trophies give the kids true meaning to their accomplishments during the tough intramural season and help to recognize how far they have come. Kids love getting trophies, and as youth basketball awards, these trophies will accomplish your organizations objective and keep your league in the front of kids and parents minds alike as one of the favorites.

Youth Basketball Season
As children are participating in their respective leagues we are going to highlight some youth basketball participation awards for 2009.
These awards are altogether fun for the children and inexpensive for the adults. While they offer maximum enjoyment for the kids they offer maximum success to the youth organization giving the trophies out and also help out the bottom line.
We all know that trophies and recognition items in general are given to recognize achievements. This is true for champion and runner up trophies at tournamnets and youth participation trophies at the intramural level. As kids are learning it is easy for them to get frustrated. Children all grow and develop at different speeds. Good coaches recognize this and implement and work on building the skill areas each child needs most. Participation trophies recognize the achievement that is unduring a season of intramural sports and the many peaks and valleys it offers the children who participate.
This coming week, Bux-Mont Awards will be highlighting some of the new trophy designs for 2009. We will also highlight some great awards that are affordable including the spinning basketball resin picture above and highlighted in the movie posted below.
What are some of your favorite basketball participation awards? Give something other than a trophy to the kids? Let us know what you do to recognize youth sports achievements.

AFL Seasons Over, but there is still Pro Indoor Football to be played!
The US Indoor Football League, or USIFL is a Professional Indoor Football League whose goal is to improve upon the industries "Thug" reputation and provide a high quality of play, performance and entertainment at a fair price.
Providing true, family-friendly entertainment, the USIFL is reaching new heights with more teams and more excitement. The Lehigh Valley Outlawz are looking to establish themselves moreso since they are freshman to this league.
With the Arena Football League season over before it begins, the UNIFL is the ONLY indoor league which will embrace former AFL players
The 2009 season kicks off with the NE Surge at Lehigh Valley Outlawz on March 22 in a fully televised contest.
Being thankful the Soul won it all in the AFL last year and sad that we won't be able to see them try to repeat this season, I am excited to take the family to a couple of inexpensive nights out in the Lehigh Valley. The drive from Bucks County isn't as long as the ride to Philadelphia, and the traffic is far ahead of the ride to Philly.
Come show your support and help cheer the Outlaws onto a victory! For families on a budget in these tough times it is nice to be able to go somewhere close to home and enjoy such a high level of entertainment. Visit the outlawz website for more information.
Do you play or have you been to any indoor football league games? Let us know about your experience in the comments.

Telephone Troubles at Bux-Mont Awards in Sellersville
We still have our store in Sellersville. For the last couple of days people calling Bux-Mont Awards in Sellersville have been getting a message saying that the phone number is no longer in service.
As anyone should do, we periodically review the services we have to try and find comparable service for better rates. We decided on going with a Comcast business class phone and internet because they offer a faster internet connection and comparable phone service, with decent customer service and a little better rate.
We signed the agreement and decided to get our service changed. Somewhere along the way signals got crossed and comcast switched our phone numbers without initiating the service. This is why you are getting an error message when you try to call us.
Again we are still open and ready to serve you. Thank you for bearing with us while we work this problem out.
